Adsense program is very much strict against their policy. Once you have an Adsense account there is a list of task you should not perform while using Adsense on your web pages. In this post we are going to discuss about it.
Avoiding accidental clicks
As per the adsense policy publishers are not permitted to encourage visitors to click ads in any manner. Placement of the Ad units is not allowed in such a way that results a click from the visitors on the Ad units mistakenly.
Google advised publisher to be careful when placing links, download buttons, navigation buttons, game windows, drop-down menus, video players or applications near ads because a visitor may accidentally clicks on the ads while clicking on something else. Even if the layout of your webpage leads to accidental clicks, publishers may receive a violation alert.
Unnatural Attention to Ads
You are not allowed to place any mark so that your ads get unnatural attention. Pointing ad ad unit via an arrow mark or some flash animation that attracts user’s attention towards clicking the ads. Publishers are not allowed to place ads in a sliding window or a pop up window.
Misleading Heading or Language
As per guidelines, you are not allowed to mislead any visitor with the heading link “resources” or “helpful links”. The only allowed headings are either “Advertisements” or “Sponsored Links”.
Publisher are also not allowed to use any statement or phrase that result into false ad click.
Examples of such statements are:
- “Contribute to the cause by clicking an ad.”
- “Feel free to click an ad.”
- “Help keep this site running. Check out our sponsors!”
- “We need a new server. Support us!”
Placing adsence unit below the images that may mislead the visitors is also not allowed.
Content Should Not Go Below the Fold
Fold is the front space of your webpage that a visitor can see without scrolling. Placing full ads in such area is not allowed. Publisher may place a side ad unit r an ad between title and content but entire content should not go below the fold.
Number of Ad Units Per Page
Currently, Adsense allows publisher to place upto three Adsense content units, upto three link units and upto two search boxes.
Publishers are advised to put only one “large” ad unit per page. As per the adsense policy they define a “large” ad unit having size to 300×600 format or more. It includes 300×1050 and 970×250 formats, 750×200 and 580×400 regional formats, and also custom sized ad with comparable size.
Should Not Place Ads On
- Auto-refreshing ads
- Ads on thank you, exit, log in, or error pages
- Ads on dynamic content
- Ads in emails
- Ads in a software application
- Ads in a new window
- Ads in pop-up windows
- Ads on a site with pop-ups
